The China CropWatch System (CCWS) was developed by the Institute of Remote Sensing Application (IRSA) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1998 and it has been operated ever since.CCWS covers entire China and 46 major grain-growing countries of the world.The System monitors the condition of the growing crop,crop production,drought,crop plantating structure,and cropping index.After 10 years operation and improvement,CCWS had become one of the three most advanced crop monitoring systems with remote sensing in the world. And now it has become important sources of information for government bodies inc- luding the State Council,Ministry of Ag-riculture Ministry of Comerce, State Grain Administration,and State Statist ics Admistration.
