Global crop production reaches new record in 2014December 02, 2014 The latest CropWatch production estimate for the 2014 season puts the production of maize and rice (as paddy) at 994 and 756 million tons, respectively, both at about the same level as 2013; wheat is up 2% (compared to last year) with 720 million tons, while soybean reaches 295 million tons, a significant increase (+6%) over the previous harvest. The combined global estimate of 2014 maize, rice, wheat, and soybean output reached new record at 2,764 million tons.
