Favorable crop conditions registered in most of the cropped areas by mid-May 2019May 31, 2019 By mid-May 2019, the Spring Wheat, single-cropping rice, maize and soybean for the northeast China were being sown. At the same period, maize and early-Rice in southern China were at growing stage. The winter wheat was at grain-filling to maturity stage. Compared to the average of the past five years, below average crop conditions were observed in the provinces of Sichuan, Guangxi, Guizhou and Chongqing. The low (less than 10mm) rainfall recorded during this period in some of cropped areas, might hamper the development of crops in the above-mentioned provinces. Even though, the overall crop conditions nationally were advantageous. It needs to be highlighted that enough rainfall (> 40mm during the period) benefited the crops in Gansu, Shandong, Henan, and Hebei. The winter wheat and total winter crops production is available at CropWatch website (http://cloud.cropwatch.com.cn/report/show?id=118§ion_id=16772).
